A dental clinic with four locations came to us convinced their newest office just wasn't showing up in local search. The real problem was smaller and much more common: their business details didn't match themselves across the internet.

The Situation

Each location had its own Google Business Profile, but the phone numbers, suite numbers, and even business name formatting were slightly different across their website, GBP listings, and older directory citations from years earlier. To a searcher it looked minor. To Google's trust signals, it looked like four unrelated businesses.

What We Found

A citation audit turned up name and address variations across more than a dozen directories, including an old address for a location that had moved two years prior. Google's Google Business Profile ranking factors weight consistency heavily, and this clinic's listings were sending mixed signals about which details were actually correct.

What We Did

We standardized name, address, and phone (NAP) formatting exactly the same way across the website and every citation we could update directly, requested corrections on the ones we couldn't edit ourselves, and added consistent structured data to each location page so search engines had one clear, machine-readable source of truth to fall back on.

The Result

Local pack visibility for the newest location improved within about a month, and the two older locations, which had been quietly underperforming for longer than anyone realized, saw a modest but real bump in map-based calls once their citation profiles were cleaned up too.

The Takeaway

Multi-location businesses accumulate citation drift over time, especially after a move or a rebrand, and it rarely gets noticed until rankings quietly slip. It's worth reviewing as part of any local SEO strategy, alongside the broader SEO audit checklist we run for every new client.
